daylilies

Chris asked about thinning or dividing daylilies, and I can only
say that I have never felt that I "had" to do this. Sometimes an area
will become too shady, because of tree growth, for daylilies to bloom
well, and then it's necessary to move them.
I have dug and divided lots of daylilies when I moved to my
present house and garden, and it wasn't difficult, but it seemed as
though they needed a whole year to re-establish and bloom well. So I
don't think they are like some other perennials that will crowd
themselves out if not divided often.
Do others on the list divide their daylilies?
