Scree beds

Barb asked about connecting the landscape timbers that support fill in a
scree bed. Yes, they have to be connected--and really this is the
hardest part of making the scree bed in my opinion. Drill holes into
them with a big drill bit, then get lengths of reebar iron, and use a
sledge to drive them in tightly. Be careful, though, and space out your
efforts--my husband tried to do too many at once (and, at first, used a
regular hammer) and messed up his elbow for quite a while--sort of like
tennis elbow, very painful.
