My Shasta Daisies

Hello everyone,
Well, I won't keep you in suspense any longer. I know that you go
to bed each night feeling unfulfilled because you don't know the state
of my shasta daisies. Actually, I wasn't trying to keep you in
suspense. I was waiting to give my curse enough time to work and do
a shrinking and shriveling job on all the other shasta daisies
throughout the world. That way, mine would reign supreme, if only by
comparison. And now for the news you have been waiting for!!!!!
I originally planted three SD plants...miserable little specimens to
begin with. So miserable, in fact, that I failed to notice that the
leaves on each plant weren't identical. After the torture of moving
and the delight of oreo cookies (just kidding about the cookies) they
began to sprout mucho foliage. Airhead that I am, I still didn't
notice that the foliage on all three was slightly different. (The
fact of the matter is, I was looking for flowers, not foliage). At
this point in time, one plant has 4 flowers and about a dozen plump
buds. The other two plants are all foliage and zilch on anything
else.
Now all of you who are into this Latin name thing, and who haven't
forgotten that "All Gaul is divided into three parts", can probably
tell the difference in my three sweeties. The flower on the one that
is blooming has kind of shaggy looking petals and the yellow center is
flat with a dimple right in the middle. The leaves of this plant are
much narrower than the others. Both the others (the stubborn
non-bloomers who have no respect for my pleadings, threats, etc) have
wider leaves and one is a more yellowish green than the other. Are
all these little clues ringing a bell with someone somewhere?
I realize that you can't run out to your gardens and check yours
for comparison. Yours are gone..remember my curse?? Sometime, if
they bloom before the first snowfall, I will let you know what my
other ones look like. That is if they bloom at all.
Jeanne
