I believe you are right! What I have is a lace cap hydrangea which looks
much like the link you sent! Thanks so much! I can honestly report to my
MIL that it is thriving! Now for another shade gardening question, which
might be a bit OT - Right behind the astilbes which I have yet to move, are
two beautiful, but fading variagated dogwoods. They look great in this
location, but they are *right* under the same mature maple; would this
explain why the third (planted same year, about the same starting size) is
huge and lovely -and these other two are barely eeking bby? What if we were
to move these to a new location and replace them with a big patch of
bugbane (botanical name escapes me) - Or do you have other suggestions - I
really like the variagetd leaf there, and we need height in this corner!
But they have to thrive under the maple!
