Barb, I see that when moles or chipmunks have tunneled under the plant. I
firm the soil around the plant, and water well.
Bye the way... Does anyone know if it's chipmunks that make many open 1"
holes from under ground tunnels through out my beds. I bound a park, and
have lots of chipmunks, moles, etc.
