Hi all
Thanks to Marge, Peggy, Rob and others helping to figure out why my
clethra up and died. I know it's not construction debris because I
prepared the bed myself, and I haven't found any spots or lesions. I
only found a bit of mossy-type green on a few of the lower woody
branches. What I did notice when I was watering the bed that it's in (I
haven't pulled it out yet) is that the water really bubbled/percolated
around the base of the plant and only this plant. I'm starting to wonder
if it didn't go crispy for thirst? Can only 1 plant in a bed die of
thirst? Good news: there seems to be life in some branches, I scraped
the bark and found green!
Any ideas about the percolating? TIA, as always.
Barb (zone6/7 southeastern PA...where I'd rather have rabbits and
groundhogs than dogs...you should see what a friend's dog did to a 6'
spread of verbena 'homestead purple' last night...I'm not sure who's
more crushed, the plants or me!)
