RE: Flower Perrenials for the Shade


"Bleeding Heart" (Dicentra) are spring-blooming and love the shade.  I
have several in my yard, and wouldn't be without them.  

For a backdrop in a shady bed, don't overlook ferns or mint plants--
both provide lovely dark foliage, which can be a gorgeous backdrop to
flowering perennials.  

(A caveat:  Beware-- mint can spread like mad!)
