I have a very similar area at my current home. I find almost anything
will grow there, it's just a little shorter and blooms later, than if in
full sun. And also . . . the taller ones lean for the sun. Currently my
favorites in that garden are
common sundrops (sorry, no botanical name; all my plant books are packed
for the move)
Bess Ross Daylily (brightens up the shade a lot!)
Cranesbill (wild geranium)
Russian Sage (leans heavily, though)
Forget-me-nots
Spiderwort
Heuchera (coral bells)
Lady's mantle
scarlet pimpernel (a belligerent annual)
*Blaze* climbing red rose
Roy's yellow Daylily
Good luck!
