Re: Seed collecting

Sue,

I don't know of a definitive book, but Amber Hearn wrote a series of
excellent articles a while back on propagation - many of them on seed, in
which she covered collecting, storing and growing. They are still up on
her site. The URL is: http://wcn.simplenet.com/articles/artindex.htm.

Tom Clothier also has excellent resources on growing from seed on his web
site (as well as other things - poke around that site, it is really worth
it) covering collecting, sowing, etc. plus a germination database and the
latest addition - a superior series by Rick A. Grazzini on Genetics for
Seed Savers that is absolutely the first and only information on seed
genetics that I've read that did not make my eyes glaze over and put me to
sleep - very highly recommended, especially if you want to save seed from
your own plants or try your hand at hybridizing.

Url to the index on his site for seed stuff is:
