Hi Carol. No matter what the variety is, you would want to
propogate via soft wood or semi-soft wood cuttings. Lavender
cannot be divided ~ if you look carefully at it, especially if
it is a couple years old, it is a woody sub-shrub.
But if you are looking for lots so that you can have drifts of
the stuff, there are some (somewhat genetically tweaked) seed
available these days ~ Lady Lavender, Hidcote, Munstead are the
ones I've grown from this new group. They are remarkably easy
to start from seed. I highly recommend you try that. It's also
useful for those who live in climates where lavender doesn't
perform well due to the amount of moisture/humidity and thus
succumb to crown rot and such at a young age. Shepards carries
the seed as do a number of others ... Park's & Johnny's I think.
I know I've been seeing it more and more.
