To the person in Oregon re: sweetpeas,
I think the key is that you have them blooming in May/June. Here in
Kentucky, it is usually in the 80's by the end of May with humidity setting
in for the rest of the summer.
For this reason, cool-weather plants just don't do well for me. It varies
from year to year, thus my comments regarding larkspur. I also grow
bachelor's buttons which last longer than any other spring annual, but even
that doesn't last past July.
This is one of the reasons why I stick with perennials.
