shasta daisy curse

Hi Amy,
Sorry to keep everyone in suspense but I have been ultra busy for
the past few weeks. I have a new granddaughter who arrived a couple
of weeks ago and for the past two weeks I have been busy keeping the
world safe for democracy by serving on jury duty.
Just before this busy time, I had taken the "Well Tended etc" book
out to the garden with me and practically denuded my flowers as per
directions. At this point my Shasta daisies are the backbone of my
garden. One plant has 19 gorgeous flowers on it. The other two have
nary a nubbin. They just sit there and have leaves!. I think I'm
going to have to move them next spring. (can you believe I just said
that?). much of my garden is sort of shriveled looking. I think my
curse went around the world and ended up in my own garden. It spared
the SD's and hit the other things.
I have solved the mystery of some of my mystery plants. My
marching soldiers turned out to be peacock orchids. They were the
dumbest looking things you ever saw. I ripped them all out in one
fell swoop. One of the other surprises is that my butterfly weed that
was supposed to be orange, turned out to be a lovely shade of red.
That was a nice surprise. The other pair of plants that were SUPPOSED
to be perennial geraniums have never bloomed but I know they aren't
geraniums because the foliage doesn't bear any resemblance to
geraniums. In fact, the truth be told, they look a lot like spinach
with their crinkley leaves. Maybe I should serve them up for dinner.
Anyway, your daisies are safe..at least for this season. My mighty
wrath has been appeased.
Jeanne
