I would have to look at the catalogue I ordered
from (Forest Farm) but I think these were noted
for blue berries up the stems in fall? Same
thing?

Susan, without getting out the books, I seem to
recall that blue
cohosh is related to camassia (or quamash), a
bulb that blooms in
late spring with the bleeding hearts, etc. I've
had a few for
several years, in a shady moist spot and they
are wonderful! Mine
are about 30 in. tall with spires of pale
periwinkle blue florets,
sort of like a tall loose hyacinth. They would
bloom better with
more sun, I expect, but I'll take what I get.
They also come in white,
and some varieties are shorter. I've read that
native Americans
use to roast and eat the bulbs (I love having
plants with a history).
