Laurie,
I had the same experience with a much smaller Dark Knight plant. It was
a crispy critter, but the stalk was still green. I tried my best to
drown it for about four days. There were minimal green leaves left. I
then(oh God, is this a NO NO?) gave regular water for a couple of days,
and on the third day I stuck it in my wheelbarrow with about 2" of water
(which came out to about 3 gallons) that I'd added the appropriate
amount of that fish emulsion (fish gut as per my kids...) fertilizer. I
soaked this plant, along with 4 2gallon pots of almost dead roses (I
picked up for a buck a pot) about half the day. I watered them with
this fertilizer, and let them soak in this water also.
This was about three weeks ago. The roses are going MAD!, and my
buddleia is showing itself, and it's new foliage in a nice little bed
beside my garage. No blooms, but it looks a heck of a lot better!
Hope this helps.
