Laurie,
I suggest that you prune it way back, leaving some new green leaves. Let
the plant concentrate on growing new roots and do some general recovering.
Mine has died to the ground before outside over winter and come back. You
may be surprised at how adaptable these are.
Don't drown it in water too much. That can be just as bad as not watering
it. Just make sure the dirt stays moist, but not sodden. Too much water
for a plant that doesn't normally grow by a water source can drown the
roots.
