Joyce Darwin??

Well, this is not exactly a culture question, but it's been bugging me like
a small sliver for the past year.

There is one of the variegated Phlox paniculata's that was originally (as
far as my recollection) offered as 'Nora Leigh', having nicely variegated
leaves and white flowers with a pink eye. After some years, another
variety appeared, offered as a more robust 'Nora Leigh' but bearing the
name of either 'Darwin's Choice' or 'Darwin's Joyce'. It would seem that
these two cultivars are one in the same, but that one of the names is a
corruption of the other.

Somehow, 'Darwin's Choice' would seem to be the most logical - Darwin being
a biologist and having interest in natural selection, etc. On the other
hand, if 'Darwin's Joyce' is the correct name, then who was Joyce? Mrs.
Darwin? Then, of course, it occurred to me that maybe we're not even
talking about THE Darwin (i.e. Charles Darwin).

Any thoughts on this? Not exactly earth-shaking, but hey, if our
government can spend time and energy, not to mention $40 million of our tax
dollars investigating Bill's romps with Monica...

By the way, does anyone know of sources for the other variegated P.
paniculata, 'Harlequin'?
