I bet you guys have some interesting suggestions for my problem. I have
a bed that borders on a sidewalk, maybe 4 feet by 20 feet, that is badly
in need of renovation. The soil (dirt, actually) gets really hard and
dry in the summer, and I'm hoping that some organic amendments will
help.
My dilemma is this: I have perennials and spring blooming bulbs
scattered through this bed, some of which I really would like to keep
and replant. And, of course, right now I have no idea exactly where the
bulbs are, and if I successfully dig them up, I won't be able to
identify all of them. I really prefer to plant as much as possible in
the fall, because our summers are so hot and dry...Is there a way to do
the job a section at a time and replant as I go, or do I need to wait a
year and try to mark bulb locations next spring? Or just say, the heck
with it, dig everything up and toss it and start over? I'm getting
really tired of looking at it!! What would you do?
Thanks for your input,
Nancy Lowe
