I too have had good success with Eupatorium maculatum (Joe Pyeweed) this
year.  The blooms on my plants have lasted for about 5 weeks and have
now faded to a dusky lavender-pink.

You could be seeing diminished blooms due to stressful conditions.  Mine
are in part shade with lots of moisture -- these plants generally like
to have a constant supply of moisture.
