Re: Lobelia siphilitica color

John:

The hybrid Lobelia x gerardii (vedraiensis) is a cross between L.
siphilitica and L. cardinalis, usually with rich crimson-violet or
bluish-violet flowers, growing about 3-4 feet. It has actually been
around for some time, but is still not widely grown, to my amazement.

A wonderful plant, bone hardy in Zone 4 (or colder) and comes true
from seed, flowering in its first year. It does not have the same need
for moisture as L. cardinalis, performing beautifully in most
situations that L. siphilitica enjoys.

In fact it is one of the glories of my garden at the present time.....

I offer the seed in my catalogue.
