Lavender may be an unusual color for Lobelia in Virginia, but it is quite
common here in Missouri. In Edgar Denison's book, Missouri Wildflowers, he
listed the color for L. siphilitica as "variable, light or dark violet, light
or dark blue or lavender, rarely white. --Janis
