Barb-
I know your exact feelings - last year at this very time we had 90 days
without rain and we were on our 21st day above 100 degrees 85 days above 95.
How I handled it was to take most of my things down by 1/3 - and took off
most of my blooms too. The plants looked like heck but I believe it helped
them. If you have had your garden planted for 2 1/2 years your plants should
be well established. (perennials sleep, creep, leap) I will admit that I
also hand water some of my precious things in pots. One thing you can do -
or maybe you are already doing is try to save your shower water in buckets or
pots for your most precious things. I also used the water from some of my
cooking - for instance, the water left from steaming veggies, potatoes, etc.
(I wouldn't use water that meat was cooked in.) and so on.
Good luck with everything and I hope things fair well through this tough time.
