need help !!!

Folks  !!

I have coffee grounds    lots of them    can I use these on my plants,
and if so,  how much for each plant,   what is the benefit,   or maybe I
should just add it to my compost pile,  would that be better?
there is probable a 5 gal bucket full of grounds      need advice
