Re: moving...sniff

Barb-

I would do exactly that - pot those babies up and take them along. I would
buy the best potting soil you can for this project as that will help your
plants acclimate to their new temporary home (pots). My sister-in-law did
this very thing two years ago...she was unable to save all but most were soon
planted in her new garden.

I'm not sure which zone you are in but if you have freezing temps I would
certainly protect these potted plants (even if hardy in the ground) in a
garage or basement (heated). One thing to keep in mind is that when these
plants go dormant they will require very little water. You are more likely
to loose them from rot than cold in a situation like this.

I have found an excellent way to label your pots for transit....use a wax
pencil and write the name on the pot. I found red ones (which show up fine
on black or green pots) at Office Depot. Your Office Depot may even carry
white or maybe they can be ordered special. Anyway - they are sold in a box
of 12 for around $6.50. They are called China Markers by Dixon.

Good luck and remember change is not always bad.....sometimes change brings
new beginnings and I see a new garden beginning for you next spring.
