Hi Anne and all,
Well today in Chicagoland, we hit a record high...I was thinking Anne, you
don't suppose that winter is over here and spring has begun? Hope you got to
enjoy today outside. I had to work today, and didn't want to come back in
after lunch. I am lucky that the forest preserve is only 2 blocks away...I
tell you the trees are budding here, noticed the birds were also out today,
and even the real deer where wandering around in a daze:)...Tonight it is
thunder storming, scared me to death, not expecting that sound in
December...
But my real fear is that my plants will not survive this. They will not
have any time to re-group before the nasty weather hits. So, I guess we
should all plan on re-doing the gardens next spring since we will have all
these bare spots.
So what is everyone's favorite Zone 5- can take this crazy weather plant? I
am looking for something to cover a cyclone fence. Also in another area that
is moist to wet (drainage area), that would get about 4 - 5 ft tall- nice
colors, flowers seasonally, possibly a variegated or unusual leaf structure
and not too wide, preferably a native so I don't have to 'fuss' with it.
Gee, I don't want much do I ;)
