garden themed breakfast recipes

I personally LOVE dirt cups, but for breakfast?

How about some herbal biscuits or lemon poppy muffins? Also a fruit salad can be garden themed.

www.mysterypartners.com is the website for the fantastic China bayles mytery books. China and her friend Ruby run a tea room called "Thyme for Tea". Online they have great recipes for all kinds of herbal treats. Here are lavender muffins ala China Bayles:

1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon dried lavender
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

bake at 400F for 20 minutes

Makes 1 dozen regular sized muffins.

OR

CHEESE AND SAGE BISCUITS (also ala Thyme for Tea)

1 cup wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sage, rubbed fine
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon salt

combine above

cut in
1/4 cup cold butter
until pea sized

add
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
mix well

Stir in
2/3 cup milk

drop biscuits onto ungreased baking sheet. bake at 425F for 10-15 minutes or until brown.

Good luck!
