A long time ago I made raised beds for my veggies. Four beds 5 ft wide, 10
ft long and 10 inches high. Lotsa compost etc. Wonderful growth; could turn
it over with one hand, no fork needed. Seems that one year cuttings went
into one bed and did very well. Seems I didn't need 20 tomatoe plants; wife
and I as kids married and moved out. All of a sudden two of four beds were
cuttings.
That was then and this is now. We retired and moved to the
farm...........this summer I made four raised beds for cuttings etc. This
time 4 x 8x 10". two are completely filled with woodies, perennials and
this is just the beginning........... now if the mice and/or voles don't get
them.......
a sample, from seed= Camelia Japonica, Aesulus pavia, 4 different Hydrangeas,
Hellebore x hybridus, etc, etc, etc ( got the etc thing from The King and I
).
Cuttings= Cornus alba 'Elegantissima, several Azaleas, Lonicera 'Baggessens
Gold' , Salix 'Haku Nishiki', Itea 'Hummingbird, etc, etc, etc,
Just getting started..........Oh did I mention the perennials?
And you folks are my education.......imagine.
Walter in Bucks County,Pa where yesterday a buck and six/seven doe crossed my
field mid day , no doubt running from a hunter. Pretty sight as long as
they're running.
