Re: A Goodbye from Tom

I am sorry to hear this, because I just recently discovered Tom when he answered a question and identified a plant for me and also provided me with his web site. I have enjoyed it so much and am happy that Chris is taking over. I would hate to loose a world of information that I have found so helpful. Sorry to see you go Tom. I'll bet you won't go far. you know the saying "once a Marine, always a Marine" well I think the same applies to gardeners

Hear! Hear! Claire! Very well said.
Tom Clothier has provided more than his invaluable germination
database - his site is a treasure-trove of information for gardeners
and has been for many years. I was thrilled to find that Chris will
be able to host the site as an archive for the continued benefit of
all net gardeners.
We all owe both of them for their continuing generosity to the online
gardening community.

Clothier's Garden Walk and Talk</A>
Tom is probably too modest to announce the end of his seed offers

and a move
from a garden to a condo so I think I can do it as this has been a

valuable
site for all gardeners, certainly for me.

Tom's site contains a terrific germination database. He also has a

seedlist
at small prices and appears to be having a clearing out sale. This

is a
wonderful opportunity for those wanting to start with some unusual

plants.
If you order, include thanks for what is a generous opportunity for

all
gardeners. I would also include a dollar or two and some stamps.
The much
discussed Papaver somniferum is here.

Best news is that our own Mr. Lindsey will archive the germination

database.
I was thinking of putting this on a disk but an archive is so much

easier to
use. Many thanks to Chris L. for this archive. Many thanks to Tom

Clothier
for years of work passed on to all gardeners. People like Chris

and Tom are
the best reasons for being online with gardening interests. I feel

especially appreciative tonight.
