was Re: aging gardeners, Now - silly garden story

Ok Gang,
its is a snowy day here in NH

Find some young man in your area and plan a day for him. Pay him enough to be happy to come and have him cut, prune, drag off brush, move rocks, mix soils, unload the car of heavy bags of peat and other things.
And it helps if he's attractive and tan . . . . giggle.
this reminds me of one of my favorite daylily stories....

imagine a cold February day, wind chills in the single digits, sleet, freezing rain. I had slogged in to work with the drive taking an extra 40 minutes, or double the normal time, to find my meeting cancelled and the computers down... Can't even work and anything......

I call a Florida hybridizer to place an order (all in an effort to warm up and cheer up).... After asking about known winter hardiness and other chitchat, the hybridizer asks how the weather is up there.....
I whine about it a little and ask the same..........
H: "Oh about 90, I'm sitting inside in the air conditioning looking at the view."
Me: "What view, extra early bloom?"
H:" no, the young men who work here, they have taken off their shirts and are working in just boots and cut offs. giggle"

I giggled too, said good bye and dug for something to do....
and felt even colder....
