Well, Gene, I make my living as an editor, although not in horticulture. But
you are absolutely right about relinquishing control. The editor is the
intermediary between the author and the market. So it's the editors (and
publishers) who have to be persuaded that the mass market gardener can get
excited about some more advanced material.
I also think you are right that the Internet will be the push.
