We're not that sharp over here in retired land, Marilyn, have the same mind
as you and some days do as our grandmas once did and put the sugar bowl in
the refrig and then search the bathroom.
I worked with metrics and still have to do the conversion in my head and I do
not "think" metric. A handy trick is to remember just one comparison: 30
cm.is about one foot. Nearly every thing can be adjusted from this one fact.
100 cm. is one meter or a bit more than three feet. Etc.
There are several other easy memory joggers but you need to whip out a
pencil. 30- cm/1 ft. is the easiest.
When traveling (Celsius) learn and it stays with you:
30 is hot
20 is nice
10 is cool
0 is ice.
That helps with the British books.
