Don, I brought home a plant of Meadowbrite in Sept.2003. It grew well the
rest of the summer/fall, but never returned in the spring. I had it in a spot
where all other echinaceas have done well. So I'm guessing it may need some
winter protection in our climates, even though it was developed in Chicago.
But I'm going to buy it again because it is such a beautiful color and the
fragrance is fantastic.

Do you have voles? They might have gotten it over the winter. Unless you
had a few sharp thaws and freezes, I would not right it off as not winter hardy.
The woodchucks love my Echinacea, So I will have to keep them in an enclosed
area.
