I personally wouldn't give up my garden's diversity for anything (well,
almost anything :) I love trying new things, tucking them away in
corners, and always having something new or different to look forward
to. Traditional plantings en masse bore me -- I have to keep myself
visually occupied with lots of variety. I tend to create mini-gardens
within a larger part of the garden; a shady corner that could be a mass
of astilbe instead becomes a miniature ecosystem with low and tall
plantings, color, and texture variations.
