Re: Acaena microphylla

Hi Linda,

I just got this one this summer and like it a lot. It went from a two
inch (5 cm) diameter to over 6 inches (15 cm) in about 3 months this
summer forming a relatively dense mat. Jellito and Schacht say that
its native habitat in New Zealand is along streams and in meadows which
implies to me that it prefers a moist site, but mine did quite well
despite a hot and dry mid-summer to early fall. They also say that
is hardy to zone 6; the nursery where I bought it said their source
claimed all of their plants would be good to zone 4 or 5; _Hortus
Third_ says zone 7? so it looks like it sort of up for grabs.

I think it's a neat plant so I'm hoping that it's at least good for
my zone 6b winters.
