The only publication I could find this plus your crocosmia Lucifer in were the
RHS Index of Garden Plants. If you have ever seen this "dictionary" you know
they don't give you a whole lot of information in them. Tha acaena was
described much the same as you mentioned in your post abut was a bit smaller
than you mentioned and also said it bloomed in late summer. sorry that is
about all. The Lucifer cultivar for the croscosmia was NOT mentioned but the
other "red" cultivars mentioned they were hardy to zone 7 only. I am sure
this is not enough info to help you out too much. Perhaps a trip to the
library (if you have a well stocked one) would get you a little more info. I
don't have access to the RHS Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers, but hear that
it is much more detailed and should have the plants you are looking for in
them since they are mentioned in their dictionary.
