Linda:
Planted 3 C.Lucifer this spring, they bloomed this summer. I also had
them planted against the house foundation in a sheltered spot. But
I lifted mine in October. I cleaned the corms, let them dry, then
put them to sleep in a small box full of dry peat moss. I plan to wake
them up in early April (pot, gentle watering, put under florescent
lights
in basement). I didn't find it to be that much work in October
(mind you, only had 3 to lift and store indoors).
Because I've read the corms respond well to overwintering as described
above,
I decided to lift them rather than leave them outdoors. Right beside
where the Crocosmia were outdoors, I'm attempting to overwinter some
Kniphofia I grew from seed last spring. These I decided to leave
outdoors
because I didn't think Kniphofia have bulbs/corms which can be easily
lifted
and stored indoors (or do they?)

the mildest December I can remember.
