Why not wait until spring and then propagate by division? They are so easy
to do then, especially if you catch them just before they awaken in the
spring? You will get great results then and you don't have to worry about
growing them on in the winter.
Put this on your to do list for the spring. Otherwise, it is so easy to
overlook this simple task. You might also think about other perennials that
are also easy to divide in spring. All of the fall bloomers are easy
targets in the spring. I find that if I don't make a "to do list" for the
spring, tasks like these are too easily overlooked due to the overwhelming
tasks that spring brings.
We are in the midst of our first significant snow fall here outside of
Philadelphia. The next few days look like they will bring more significant
snows. Guess it's about time. Kinda looking forward to making the first
footprints in the snow.
The birds have definitely been trying to tell us that something is on its
way. Filled the feeders early in the day and they will need filling by
tomorrow.
Happy New Year to all.
