Re: Kniphofia

Margaret:

it's been three years and this past summer my kniphofia still looked like
something died, but it did throw up three blooms (what an analogy...).
Anyway, I have a group of three plants, but when I look through my garden
books, it seems like most gardeners have at least 5+. Until I can free up
cash (and patience), I have some daylillies planted around them. The
foilage is similar and it makes it look fuller than what it is. My
kniphofia is orange and yellow, so I have some daylillies in those shades
to carry the scheme. I'm hoping for a more decent showing this summer from
the kniphofia.

Does anyone else out there have any suggestions on the best conditions for
kniphofia? I live in-between zones 5 and 6, have the plants in full sun, a
clay-based soil that was amended with manure and compost, and we get a lot
of humidity and heat in the summer.
