Scarification. Though that Bauhinia is marginally hardy there, and is
a woody plant to boot. I had rather spotty success germinating Bauhinia
purpurea. I have planted B. macranthera which is supposed to be fairly
hardy here. Those twinned leaves are too cool to resist ;-)
