It's a good plan-and I would add - If the plants have been in the ground for
more than three years, you will have to brake the roots. I have found that
the best sized plants to replant have 3-8 eyes and have roots about 7-9 "long.
Longer roots can be cut off and if the clump has many more eyes than 8 it
should be divided.
Peony roots can be long and large-so do not worry if you break some of them.
