Barb,
USED cat litter isn't recommended (and neither is dog waste) because of the
high levels of nitrogen in the urine, as well as the meat issue. The
decomposure rate is very slow. You can use both, but need to put the waste
in a seperate compost area (preferably buried underground) and go back to it
in a year or so. In addition to the above issues, cats and dogs contract
worms and other parasites. These parasites are very difficult to kill under
normal composting conditions. Altogether, it's just not worth the hassle,
in my opinion.
