Bob, if I paid $5 a bulb you can bet I'd do what it took to keep them
coming back!  However, I tend to buy less expensive things, being under the
impression that it must be pretty common, i.e., easy to grow/multiply (plus
my budget won't let me get too extravagant).  The really big alliums
wouldn't survive too long in our spring storms, I think.  The variety I buy
grows a respectable 4' or so and has a flower head of about 6 or 7" across.
Don't ask me the name, because I usually buy them from a local hardware
store where the package just says "alliums" -- and I'm always surprised
that they just don't call them "purple balls"!

Sigh...I guess I'll have to let the yellow leaves alone.  It just looks so
ugly withering amongst the new green foliage.  Perhaps I can just plant the
nepeta next to them and let that grow all over it...
