Re: HOLIDAYS

Barb:
I have probably 100 feet of shelving in my basement right now and as I
plant seeds the footage increases. My shelves are on self standing legs
20" wide by 12 feet long covered with wire on the top. I have 2 lights hung
over some of them for the seedlings and some of them only have one light
that is hanging higher for plants that are already grown that I am wintering
over. My husband built the shelves so I can rotate them from the basement
into the greenhouse later. Right now I have geraniums, cuttings, ipomeas,
house plants, and a lot of semi hardy perennials. In February I will be
planting tomatoes and annuals.
I have a greenhouse and have been heating it this year but it is only
covered with plastic and I'm not trusting the heating system. We have kept
it at 50 degrees so far and have had some really cold weather. I heat with
propane. I have the greenhouse full of pansies and some perennial cuttings
and shrubs. In March I usually pot up my seedlings into 4 packs and then
transport them into the greenhouse for growing on. I bought a hoop house,
10' x 48'. I like it a lot but believe glass would probably be more
economical to heat. Oh well, can't have it all at once or where would we put
it?
