RE: THE 13 DEADLY(?) SYNDROMES OF GARDENING

Hi Donna & Dot,
I must confess that I was trying to be funny - I don't have any pink
flamingoes. There was a time when I saw them used to perfection though.
When I was a hort student a few years back, we each had a huge term project
to be responsible for. Mine became the formal perennial garden - laid out
like a French parterre only circular. Each section was designed by a
different student. We grew all the plants from seed and had a big planting
day in early May. Many students participated. The very center of the
circle was crying for a birdbath, statue or some other large piece of garden
ornamentation. We asked the hort dept if there were funds to buy something
for that spot - the answer was no. A couple of days later 2 formally
attired (tuxedo and pink crinoline tutu) pink flamingos appeared in the
center bed. They were really decked out - complete with top hat and
earrings & pearls - and labeled "Basil" and "Pansy"! It was such a hit,
people came from all over the campus to see it. Even the program director
laughed a little after she got over the shock. Wish I could find my
picture, I'd upload it for everyone to see :).

Hello Marilyn

I like your train of thought here, and where did you manage to pick up
your flamingos? would love to have a set for myself. by any chance
did you get them on E-bay? I have the perfect spot for them.
Mr. Dell would frown on me, if he could see my garden. I use lots of
thing in my beds besides annuals and perennials.
