Re: THE 13 DEADLY SYNDROMES OF GARDENING

Hi Claire,
There is a nursery and landscape business in a town nearby that I have know
for some years now. Like them and occasionaly purchase a shrub or small tree from
them. They have been pretty successful in the new communities being built around
the thriving little town. You can drive through the new subdivisions and I can
point out Ned & Nate's work as we drive. That is the reason most use him... you
will have something similar to what you saw in your neighbor's yard. But.. and
this is important to many... if you do not know, you can still have landscaping
with the quality and visual effect you want. All it takes is money. These
individuals do not want to be involved. You are right... they are not gardeners.
But, then, (gasp!) not everyone in the world is or can be. I have friends who need
color coding to place a plant in the ground.... brown goes down, green goes up. We
simply talk about something else.
I suppose I had a rather easy time of it creating my garden. The hillside and
mature trees were already there. All I had to do was follow the dotted lines, and
then fill in between the lines with color. I went with what was given me and tried
to find ways not to fight the physical while still getting what I felt I could see
from the area. I have to see things in my mind's eye before I do the project.
Feelings dictate the final process and placement. Feelings, however, are based
upon prior experience and learning. Inspiration and then perspiration.
Thanks for the invitation to come play in your Albany NY area. I understand it
is quite lovely, but I have never been there.
Your ladies will need to get it in gear if they want me to head in your direction.
One booking a month away from the nursery is my preference. Already have two clubs
booked to meet here in May.
