Yes, Actinidia species are either male or female, so at least one of each is
required for fruit. The female A. kolomikta is generally unvariegated, plain
green. One thing to remember is that these various cold-hardy kiwis, though
related, are NOT the same as the subtropical kiwi fruits sold in stores. The
fruit of the cold-hardy kiwis are small, around 1/4 the size of the commercial
ones. They do taste similar.
