Re: Foxglove

Donna,

Depends on what species of foxglove you have whether its a biennial or
perennial. D x mertonensis (sp) is a perennial. Its a hyb of two different
digitalis species and has rose red flowers. Mine seems to be making it
through the winter and I hope it blooms this year. Other foxgloves like the
Excelsior hyb. I treat as a biennial which will re seed.

There are some digitalis which are found in the more Mediterranean type
climates of Europe, Maybe they would withstand the heat better. Don't know
the species names off hand right now.

Most digitalis need a cooling period in order that they bloom.
