I agree with Susan on the Salvia 'Victoria Blue', they are probably just a
bit taller than what you are looking for but what a look - the blue of the
salvia with the coreopsis should make a great combo. Now if you could
incorporate a bit of red, maybe with a verbena...the three would be a very
striking combination!! I've seen the same color combo done with Rudbeckia's,
Victoria Blue and the typical Red Begonia and it looked great!!
I live in a very similiar type neighborhood - my "fun" garden is in the back
and side of my house and my "mustache" is in the front. This year I will be
trying the vinca's as they seem to survive any heat a humidity. Planted in a
mass they make a great look. Sorry - I know it's an annual.
Also, one of my neighbors uses one of those low growing rose bushes that
blooms pink all summer in our zone 9.....beautiful!!! Can't tell the name of
it but if you ask a rosarian I'm sure they can advise better.
