Another you might consider is Smilacina racemosa (Falsse Solomon's Seal). It has a wonderful variegated leaf, forms a nice clump in about 2 years and looks good all summer. Gets to be about 3 feet tall. Anemone japonica would be a good plant for fall blooms--pink or white depending on cultivar.
