Perennial plant of the year 2001


Perennial Plant Assoc. selected Calamagrostis acutiflora Karl Foerster 
(feather reed grass) as 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year. 
This ornamental grass grows about 4 feet tall (it can 
get taller) and 2 feet wide and is hardy in
most USDA Hardiness Zones. "Karl Foerster" was selected over the other 2 nominees: Sedum Autumn Joy and
Hemerocallis "Stella de Oro." The association has been selecting a plant of the year since 1990.
