Kristl, thank you for your very useful answer. I have grown Symphyandra
hofmannii and find it interesting and monocarpic too. One year I tried to
keep all the spent flowers picked off to see if I could get the plants to
live longer-The effort was not worth the results. Plants in this genus
produce lots of flowers and I have always liked the pictures of the blue
species.
So when you said they were hardy, I am excited about growing a few plants. I
also have Symhyandra pendula, and am going to give it a try this year too.
Again thank you Kristl for your very informative response to my questions.
I wonder if the other species would be hardy too?
I like most all of the plants in Campanulaceae and wish I could get more
members of Adenophora too. ( We will see what happens when the Rock garden
seeds come)
